Surgery, Medicine & Emergency

Surgery

Emergency and elective surgery is performed in LAMB’s 3 operating theatres.

Elective surgeries, scheduled after outpatient consultation:

  • Abdominal (including gall bladder removal), perianal fistula repair

  • Urology (inguinal hernia, ureteric reimplantation)

  • Limited plastic and orthopedic procedures

  • Burn contracture release and skin grafting

  • Breast Surgery

  • Minor surgery such as removing abscesses

Occasional visits by specialised surgeons for 1-2 week ‘camps’ enable a large number of operations for particular problems.

Medicine

Adult Inpatients are admitted to LAMB Hospital for a wide variety of medical problems, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis complications, self-poisoning, heart failure, typhoid fever and diarrhea.

Outpatients typically might have high blood pressure, diabetes, gastritis, pneumonia, skin problems, asthma or arthritis.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a particularly widespread public health problem and a special 5 bed TB ward is designated for treatment of complicated TB cases.

Emergency Care

LAMB Hospital is open for emergency treatment 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It is important to us that we are ready with a full range of staff and prepared to care for anyone at any time.

LAMB Hospital has a broad range of service capabilities to treat and admit patients. For specialised needs – orthopaedic, spinal, eye, heart, brain – doctors can provide first-response care, followed by referral to other hospitals.

A great strength of LAMB is that there are always doctors on call, including an experienced senior doctor. Maternity cases are admitted by an advanced midwife, in consultation with a doctor as needed. Non-maternity emergencies are treated immediately with first aid by a medical assistant or paramedic, while an on-site doctor is phoned and arrives within 5-10 minutes. A laboratory technician is always available on call, both for laboratory testing and for blood transfusions and blood donations receipt.

Dental Unit

We aim to provide high quality, comprehensive, affordable dental care and oral health education to all people, in an environment that fosters respect, compassion, and dignity. We care deeply about our patients and what we do to help them maintain dental health for a lifetime. We seek to share the love of Jesus Christ through our profession and our hearts.
