Volunteer, long-term Service Opportunities

Candidates who identify with LAMB’s purpose are encouraged to apply. Those requiring NGO visas will be expected to give a full time equivalent in work hours.

Long term positions are for one year or more.  We also have opportunities for short term volunteers. We have families, couples, and singles, and a variety of nationalities from four continents.

Sending by a church or Christian mission organization is a requirement.  Normally, although there are exceptions, long term expatriate staff will do some language study prior to joining, the length of time depending on the expected length of service at LAMB. This is negotiable between the sending organization, the worker and LAMB.

Long Term International volunteers are seconded by organisations from their home countries. In recent years LAMB has received staff seconded by World Mission Prayer League (WMPL), Food for the Hungry International (FHI), Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), Baptist Mission Society (BMS), Japanese Overseas Christian Medical Cooperative Service (JOCS), Church Missionary Society (CMS), Finnish Lutheran Overseas Mission (FLOM) and Tearfund, although there would be no problem with staff being seconded by other agencies. Each seconding agency has an agreement with LAMB and the details may vary. However, in general volunteers are self-supporting and do not receive a salary from LAMB. LAMB provides administrative support to obtain visas, work permits, professional registration etc. and with finding local accommodation. LAMB can also help with language study and cultural orientation where this is not provided by the seconding agency.
