EXPATRIATE VACANCIES – SHORT TERM POSITIONS:
Short term staff are those at LAMB for less than one year. Length of stay varies from as little as one week to up to one year, but normally minimum four weeks is expected except for those with advanced skills.
Whatever your specialty (or just willingness to take on), you might be ‘doing’, teaching others how to do, managing, or a combination of these. Often, for younger staff, they may be here both to work and gain practical experience.
The majority of short term expatriate staff are Christian, but it is not essential, particularly if you have much needed skills.
Please E-mail the LAMB Short Term Worker Co-ordinator for further information.
The current and near-future LAMB needs for new short termers are as follows
Main activities are Obs/ Gynae, Paediatrics, Adult medicine, and Surgery, but other specialties and General/Family Practitioners very welcome. Clinical work is possible, particularly with longer stays allowing time to gain some language capability, but there is other valuable work to do, including teaching/ training of staff.
Obstetricians/ Gynaecologists/in training:
Obs/ Gynae is a major focus for the hospital, and support to long term staff is always welcome. Both clinical work and other work are possible. Nearly 2,500 babies per year are born in the hospital, and more in community clinics.
Paediatrics is also a major focus for the hospital, both acute inpatient work for neonates and children of all ages, outpatients, and LAMB has a rehabilitation centre for disabled children.
Surgery in three operating theatres is focused on Obs/ Gynae, general abdominal surgery, emergencies, and cleft work, but all surgical specialties of value to the poor welcomed. Relieving our current surgeon to allow her home leave will be much appreciated.
At the LAMB English Medium School, there are currently 135 national and expatriate students in small classes, from Kindergarten to Grade 10. Emphasis on quality teaching and Christian example. Long term, or short term support needed from 6 weeks to one year, all subjects.
To support and advise our Research team on techniques and practices for LAMB’s growing Research activities, and on use of our large pool of data.
