Emergency Care

Though not strictly a department, this is a very important component of LAMB health care. LAMB Hospital is 24 hours per day, every day of the year, open for emergency treatment and admissions with a full range of staff and services.

LAMB Hospital has a broad range of service capabilities to treat and admit patients. For other more specialized needs – for example orthopaedic, spinal, eye, heart, brain – doctors may provide first-response care, then referral to hospitals for appropriate care.

A great strength of LAMB is that there are always doctors on call, separately for obstetrics/ gynaecology, paediatrics, and medicine/ surgery, available at a few minutes notice if judged clinically necessary. Senior doctors are similarly available on call for clinically difficult cases.

Maternity cases are admitted by an Advanced Midwife. Non-maternity emergencies are treated or admitted in the first instance by a Medical Assistant/ paramedic.

A laboratory technician is always available on call, both for laboratory testing and for blood transfusions/ blood donations receipt.
