Ancillary Services
Ancillary Services supporting the hospital include:
- Laboratory services
This 24 hr service carries out crucial tests including hematology, basic biochemistry, serology and microbiology tests. The laboratory carries out more than 78,500 tests annually. - Blood transfusion services
Most commonly when blood is required, people connected with the patient in need will be asked to donate. There is a broader system of blood donations, including staff and volunteer donors, although contributions to the blood bank tend to be quickly used. Nearly 600 blood transfusions were carried out in 2018. - Imaging
X-rays with simple contrast films are available, and ultrasound is also offered. Training by a visiting overseas radiologist continues to raise the skill levels. Over 4,800 X-rays are taken annually, with nearly 1000 non-obstetric and 6000 obstetric ultrasounds performed in 2018. - Pharmacy
This stocks mostly cost effective pharmaceuticals that are available in-country. A few locally unavailable drugs are brought in. Medicines are sold at only marginally over the cost price to LAMB. - Physical Therapy
Provided by staff members trained by expatriate physical therapists. - Chaplaincy
Our chaplains visit all patients to offer counseling and/ or prayer. The LAMB approach to overall health is wholistic physical, spiritual, social and emotional welfare.
