COMMUNITY MOBILISATION
Community development has been a major focus for LAMB for the past 10 years – although LAMB has been active in the provision of healthcare services to local communities for almost 30 years. The community development work has grown rapidly, made possible by the large network of staff involved in healthcare provision.LAMB’s community mobilization activities have until recently been closely linked to the clinics, safe delivery units, and other healthcare services LAMB currently operates within the communities.
Activities now have a much broader perspective. LAMB is working with communities to gain from the spectrum of service providers, including Government, a more full provision of primary health care services to their community.To develop tripartite relationships between communities, local authorities, and health service providers, which are stable long term and provide sustainable healthcare services, LAMB is now working with all three groups.
LAMB has healthcare and development teams on the ground in 28 Unions of Dinajpur, Rangpur and Nilphamari Districts. These teams work with communities on development issues, and support them in rights based approaches. At the LAMB Training Centre, residential and non-residential training is provided on rights based approaches.
