LAMB SCHOOL
LAMB English Medium School started in 1996 as a service to staff children but is now able to enrol non-staff children. Non-staff children now number 24 out of the total of 84 students. The school currently runs classes from Pre-school (age 3) to Class 8 (age 14) but is year by year developing upwards to Class 10 (age 16).
The staff / student ratio is high, with typically 12 teachers for the 83 students.
The school aims to provide high quality education in a Christian environment. It strives to develop students to their full spiritual, physical, social, cognitive and emotional potential. In learning style, a strong emphasis is given to seeking understanding. We hope to see the children become models of leadership and service, with hearts focused on the kingdom of God and serving the poor.
The school is part of enabling LAMB to serve the poor, both directly by enabling local students from families without adequate resources to attend the school, and indirectly by providing for the needs of the families of LAMB staff.Languages
With both national and foreign staff children, the school places English as its core language. Children who graduate from LAMB School will be fluent in English.Bangla is a compulsory subject and is taught to a level comparable to that in local Bangla Medium schools.
Standards and Curriculum Content
LAMB school teaches according to the guidelines set in the English National Curriculum. The school is developing year by year to Class 10 (O-levels). A new building extension with science laboratory facilities is a part in enabling this. The literature used and the topics chosen for the curriculum content represent the variety of nationalities and cultures in the student body. We seek to ensure that each child develops the skills, knowledge and understanding that he or she needs to succeed, each in his or her own culture.
Multicultural Diversity
Students and teachers are from a variety of nationalities, religions, people groups, customs and cultures. Students are representative of all levels of LAMB staff. This gives us a unique opportunity to encourage and teach mutual respect and understanding, through working together.Special Needs
Recognizing that all people are created by and are important to God, academic qualifications are not a factor in admission to the school. The teachers do their best to help children with special needs to succeed in spite of their difficulties.Faith and Trust in God
LAMB English Medium School is a Christian school. Through morning prayers, weekly assemblies and Bible classes, and through the interaction of teachers and students we seek to teach integrity, high moral standards and faith in God.Stipend Fund
The school is committed to making itself available to as many children as possible. To help achieve this, a stipend fund is in operation. For the school year 2007/08, full fees are paid by only 24% of pupils, with support to some non-staff children as well as staff children.
